چکیده

Background This study aims to develop a methodological framework for the comparative economic evaluation between Minimal Extracorporeal Circulation (MECC) versus conventional Extracorporeal Circulation (CECC) in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in different healthcare systems. In addition, the scope is to evaluate the cost-effectiveness ratio of alternative comparators in the healthcare setting of Greece, Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

Bilateral Extracorporeal Circulation ("Drew Technique") for Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery using Patient's Lung as Oxygenator

The aim of this study was to determine: 1) whether a bilateral perfusion circuit (Drew technique) using the patient's own lung as the oxygenator is feasible for multi-vessel coronary artery bypass grafting; and 2) if the systemic inflammatory response to extracorporeal circulation differs compared to conventional cardiopulmonary bypass procedures. Twenty patients were enrolled in a randomized, ...

Effect of closed minimized cardiopulmonary bypass on cerebral tissue oxygenation and microembolization.

OBJECTIVE Coronary artery bypass grafting with cardiopulmonary bypass carries a risk for neurologic complications because of cerebral hypoperfusion and microembolization. The basic goals of a novel closed minimized extracorporeal circulation are to prevent excessive hemodilution and to avoid blood-air interface. The aim of this prospective randomized study was to determine the effect of using t...

Coronary artery bypass graft with minimal extracorporeal circulation.

BACKGROUND To evaluate the advantages and benefits of a minimized extracorporeal circulation system in the performance of coronary artery bypass grafts. METHODS From September 2000 to February 2003, 279 consecutive patients underwent isolated coronary artery bypass grafting with minimal extracorporeal circulation. A group of 243 patients at good risk as defined by a Euro- SCORE of 3 underwent...

Minimized extracorporeal circulation is improving outcome of coronary artery bypass surgery in the elderly.

Advanced age is a known risk factor for morbidity and mortality after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Minimized extracorporeal circulation (MECC) has been shown to reduce the negative effects associated with conventional extracorporeal circulation (CECC). This trial assesses the impact of MECC on the outcome of elderly patients undergoing CABG. Eight hundred and seventy-five patients (m...
